WallMonster 1.0
I have a boatload of pictures on my machine, but I am also quite lazy about changing my desktop wallpaper. In fact, I'm lucky to change it once a month.
The best way to make up for laziness (for a computer programmer?): write a program to do it for you. The WallMonster pulls from pictures on your machine or even pictures from the internet, puts them on your Desktop -- and all you have to do is sit back and provide the eyeballs. And mouse-clicking finger.
To leave this program running (in the system tray), hit "Minimize and Run". It will sit and serve up wallpaper as long as you leave it there.
You will need the .NET framework to run this program; if you don't have it or don't know what it is you will have to follow the directions to get it when the program starts.
Settings Tab
- Specify how often you want the desktop image to rotate, or do it now.
- Specify where you want the images to come from -- your picture folders, online pictures, or both.
- How do you want the image displayed? You can get it tiled, but then you'd be a freak.
My Wallpapers
- Add/Remove from a list of image folders. All JPEGs in these folders will be included in the rotation.
Online Wallpapers
- Add/Remove from a list of online "resources". A resource is just a text file sitting on a server with a list of images. A sample is included below, along with some URLs for lots and lots of pictures.
Example Web Resource File

http://digitalretrograde.com/Photos/Outings8_9/IMG_2918.jpg
http://digitalretrograde.com/Photos/Outings8_9/IMG_2920.jpg
That's it, just a flat text file filled with URLs. Create one and upload it to your server then pass out the URL to it for people to plug in. Automatically generate the file if you feel so inclined.
