Rice, rice, not Beer
Lately I have made the claim that large American brewers (Anheuscer-Busch, Coors) use rice in their brewing, one of the reasons I don't like the way they taste. There were some skeptics, but the Wikipedia "Budweiser" article backs me up on this, along with other web references including this one that states (without citation) that Budweiser is as much as 60% rice.

From Wikipedia:

According to the Reinheitsgebot (The German Purity Law of 1516), Budweiser does not qualify as beer.

Air Hogs of Thanks

Multiple families were hosted for Thanksgiving along with a fleet of micro RC helicopters. Krista slaved over the food for days (literally) and it paid off. Someday we might even finish eating it all.

Short, Gray Days
This is what it doesn't look like outside.

Replaced with empty branches, be-sleeted streets and a substantial lack of daylight.

Yet, there have also been copious offline-goings-on including a couple of birthdays, the acquisition of a certain "Guitar Hero 3" (I'm working my way through expert!) and a pair of new glasses which are not yet reflected in the sidebar glasses picture. I'll get there. A few days off for Thanksgiving will provide some blogging time/fodder.

I've been toying the with SubSonic project which is a .NET DAL that generates data classes and SQL utility functions (SELECT, UPDATE, INSERT,...) automatically from a schema. Everything was going along well until I published to my web host and promptly discovered it wouldn't work. It requires "high trust" and my host doesn't trust me or my applications that much. Long story short, my 20-minute porting project became a 6-hour adventure as I rewrote my own DAL from scratch.

Doncha just hate when that happens?

The Death of a Cheap-Ass Piece of Equipment
My home router is somewhere between the ICU and the mortuary. It was acting up on Wednesday and I thought I had a few more days before it really died so I ordered another online. Now I have to wait for some truck from Memphis before my home internet is back.

Til then!
