"Good Grief"
My father-in-law is taking a sabbatical in Germany over the summer and blogging regularly. He explains what's going on here:

The End of a Project

We've been needing more shelf space to supplant our little overflowing Ikea shelves. The Previous Occupants added built-in cabinets and a desk left over from a kitchen remodel, but the cabinets didn't fit the space and weren't very book friendly.

Lots of elbow grease into getting the walls cleaned up and repainted, and there were a couple minor mishaps ordering the adjustable shelves (from "Rakks"). Lessons were learned. I'm really happy with the results.

The Biology of B-Movie Monsters

Fascinating article on biology, biomechanics, et. al. On the Hemonauts from "Fantastic Voyage":
First, how do they see? The crew spend time enjoying the scenery as they cruise the arterial highways, but even at their largest size their eyeballs are much smaller than the wavelength of visible light. Even hard ultraviolet radiation is too long in wavelength to be useful. Perhaps they are using X-rays, but if so, their hapless host has more to worry about than a blood clot.

Hovering above. The top one is worth clicking for larger to see bits of color in the leaves. (I've posted this before.)

1000FPS

I-Movix SprintCam v3 NAB 2009 showreel from David Coiffier on Vimeo.

Astonishingly clear miscellaneous shots with a 1000FPS camera. See especially the fire breather. (Best viewed on Vimeo full screen/HD.)

I need to update my header graphic, it was 85 here today.

And much to my surprise, my title suggestion was pressed into service: http://herecomesgodzilla.blogspot.com

Rayguns

To polish off our Raygun collection, we've added the "Neutron Atomizer" (orange). They're surprisingly hard to photograph. See here for all three.
